open source engine

What are the chance you will open source the engine?

I would love the ability to add more advanced things to the games, but its impossible without the code.

Not sure if they can, but you can also just start from https://gemrb.org anyway.

GemRB is great and the guys that are working on that project are doing great work, but to be totally honest it has been 20 something years and it still doesn't have networking working.

Networking for a single-player game is overrated.

To me I started playing the demo of BG 1. I didn't actually realize it was a demo when I started playing I just realized I couldn't go past the mines. Then I looked more into it and discovered BG 2 was already out and I started playing online via GameSpy.

That time playing on GameSpy with a bunch of people was probably one of the most important times of my life.

Playing online was a great experience and very important for me.
