Can't play together (Macos and iOS)

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
So my girlfriend bought the game on her iPad, and I bought it on Steam on my mac. We can't see each others' games on multiplayer, and it doesn't connect on Steam. I can see other games, but not hers. We tried direct connection with IP, but it just was stuck on "waiting for connection" or whatever.

What's going on? We just want to play together :(

I then tried to buy it on the Mac App Store (way more expensive), but that was no difference.

    update: I tried installing the ipad version on my mac, didn't solve the issue. :(
