Can't bind keys in BGII EE like in BG1 EE

Just starting up BGII EE after finishing BG1 and SoD for Windows (desktop PC). Trying to rebind the keys, I find that for some reason the game won't recognise input from the NumPad or the Del/Home/End/PageUp etc, or even the F-keys. I used all of those in BG1 EE and SoD, as I use them in all games. In fact, those are the *only* keys I use, so it's pretty much unplayable for me (I could manage without the F ones probably, but not the NumPad or Del/Home/End. I found several people posting about this all over the net, but weirdly no solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)
