Stuck in Mind Flayer Lair

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
Hey everyone! I'm stuck in front of the second door in the Mind Flayer lair. There is no more Mind Flayer spawning in the Blood Pool room or anywhere else to take control of and I never got the ability to change into slayer form at will.
What can I do?

    You will have to reload a previous saved game.
    In the east room, Mind Flayers respawn each minute. 2.6.6.0 gives you 55-60 of them; BG2 gives you 80-85

    I had that happen once years ago! It came down to reload from a previous save, I never figured any other fix.

    The change to slayer form comes in a dream. Could sleep spamming might trigger the Dream sequence?
