[BUG] Game crashes after saying it does not have space

in Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition
I've looked around the internet about this bug and it seemed common in other bg games in the 2010' but couldn't find the way to fix it or properly report this bug. the thing is, I was playing the game with no mods at all and when I'm about to quick save it shows this message. in the beggining i just kept clicking until it eventually saved but now my game crashes even before showing this message.

    The "not enough space" error is a generic "couldn't save" error. The problem is almost certainly not a simple lack of space.

    One possibility is a permissions issue: the game needs write permission for the folder that the saves go in and its contents.
