Cleric kits?

atcDaveatcDave Member Posts: 2,386
I’m trying to find if there’s any mod out there with more cleric kits? Specifically I was hoping to find something for Torm, and maybe Elven and Halfling deities.

I had thought Divine Remix would have more of this, but it looks like the most current version just has newer versions of what’s already in the game.
It’s a little surprising, 2E PnP had so many ideas for building specialty clerics. And I still don’t see much out there for mods. Am I missing something?

    Yes I did!
Deities of Faerun might be exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you much!

Wow, there’s a lot there. So it looks like either mod would give me most of what I want?

Yesterday, I rebuilt my IE game builds with Deities of Faerun. And I wound up with IWD crashing when I tried to create a Half-elven F/M/T. at least I’m assuming it was Deities of Faerun causing it, it was the only mod new to me that did anything with classes and spells.

So I spent some time last night looking more closely at its installation instructions and it looks like I set up some conflicts for it with Tweaks mod. So I was planning on trying again today.

Here’s a question, is Faiths and Powers any less fussy? Is there any difference between the two on stability and how they interact with other mods and game components? Basically, what are the reasons to choose one or the other?
  • atcDaveatcDave Member Posts: 2,386
Okay, much frustration. I went through a complete rebuild, following the developer's notes related to cdtweaks, and still wound up with the same crash when creating a half-elven f/m/t. I tested the build in steps too, it was fine until Deities of Faerun was added.

Unless someone can explain a fix I'll call it broken.

Is Faiths and Powers more stable?
  • TrouveurTrouveur Member Posts: 631
I usually find DoF more stable than faith and Powers.
    What is your weidu log?
    DoF shouldn't affect F/M/T since it's not a cleric.
  • atcDaveatcDave Member Posts: 2,386
I can check that later, although I don’t expect to understand anything in it!

But the crash definitely came after I’d installed DoF, and nothing else. It’s in exactly the same place every time, after you’ve chosen spells and it asks you to assign what spell you know. There’s a chime and the game crashes. I was able to create the character immediately before I installed DoF, and I get a CTD immediately after.
The spell was Identify. Which of course, doesn’t even overlap with a Cleric spell.
  • TrouveurTrouveur Member Posts: 631
Weidu log contains list of installed mods and the installation order too.
Seems like a bad interaction between DoF and another mod.
  • atcDaveatcDave Member Posts: 2,386
Unfortunately, I was overly efficient on getting rid of the build that was crashing.

But, I did save the last install that was running correctly. This is what I'm currently playing:

The only change that led to the problematic build was adding DoF. So maybe one of the cdTweaks options is conflicting with the DoF install?
Its not a huge thing to me at the moment, my party cleric just dualled from Fighter to Cleric. I was hoping to dual into Cleric of Lathander, but generic will be fine for IWD.
But I'm hoping, for my next BG run to use a Halfling cleric of a Halfling deity for my main character. So I'd like to find a functional way of doing that.
  • atcDaveatcDave Member Posts: 2,386
I'd mention too, I see two things that might be issues?

The installation notes for DoF mentioned choosing character colors in cdTweaks would over-ride the kit color feature. I prefer it this way.
The other thing was switching to some PnP things for spell progression. Maybe this is a conflict? But strange it showed up when building a F/M/T character. Especially that it was consistent with three different things I tried, the crash came when I choose "Identify" as the memorized spell.

I don't see anything wierd in your install, I will do some testing. Did you also installed the DoF sphere system ?
I will try to reproduce your install with DoF.
On a side note, Lava released two others quests mods for IWD : Below and Below Inn, and Xykascz's glove of chaos. :)

Ah, thank you much! Now I’m also wondering if it would work any better to do DoF first, THEN add Tweaks? Yes I installed the Sphere system, I just did the full Install.
And no that I think of it, I did the "Dual into Kit" mod too, although that was recommended for DoF.

My previous build used Below & Below. So I am trying most of his others now! I’d missed Glove of Chaos! I’ll have to track that down when I do my next build.

I just did a fresh install on IWD, first I installed Deities of Faerun alone. It worked perfectly with a range of the new cleric types, and triple class F/M/T like I had problems with before.
Then I did a full install of everything I want to run. I backed off several components of CDTweaks, so basically none of the rules changes that could effect clerics. And it crashed exactly like it has been on creating a F/M/T. Something going on between one of the other mods and DoF?

Okay, I think I've better isolated the issue. And a work around.

It is NOT DoF that's causing problems, its "Duel to Kit" which is specifically recommended in the DoF readme so you can choose those lovely kits you just added when you dual. I just noticed that I was adding that little mod every time I added DoF. So I did a build with everything except Dual to Kit; and it works fine.

Except of course, I can't dual into a kit....
So a work around, just keep both builds on the computer. Do character creation from a nerfed build without Dual into Kit, then switch over to the full build to actually play the game.
Maybe not the elegant solution, but it does what I want it to.
