IWD:EE - Debug Mode on Linux Mint via Steam

Firstly g'day since this is my first post here. Cheers to the Beamdog team for reviving these old classics I've loved since my teenage years.
I've read plenty of guides re: IWD:EE debug mode, namely one must add
to the baldur.lua or icewind.lua file (previously the baldur.ini or icewind.ini file).
But I cannot find that file in my Linux File System at all. It does not exist.
It is not in my c: on WINE (I did not install Steam or IWD:EE via WINE anyway).
It is not in my Linux "Documents" folder (all my usual documents are there; that is not where Steam is keeping my saved games or game files).
I cannot for the life of me find out where that .lua file is. The closes text files I could find are in my directory
/home/<USERNAME>/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition
engine.lua
Icewind Dale - GemRB
There is an unopenable file in that directory of an unknown type called "Icewind Dale" but I cannot interact with it with Notepad or Wordpad.
Icewind.lua or Baldur.lua do not exist anywhere in my file system whatsoever. I'm completely stumped as to how I'm supposed to enable the console command line when the file cannot be located on my Linux system.
At least the game and save files run fine, otherwise!
Short of completely uninstalling and reinstalling Steam, I have no idea what else to do. Any ideas?
