NWN:EE Android Controller support

I have a handheld console (AYN Odin 2) running Android, which has a built-in controller. I would very much like to play NWN on it, and I bought the game on the play store, assuming that it would be able to just use the controller, as I read somewhere that the windows version has a working controller setup as well.
Unfortunately, I found that it does not seem to support controllers natively.
Am I missing something in the options, or is that feature just missing?
