Druid shapeshifted has extra attack with off hand weapon

Hi
I am playing with a shapeshifting druid in BG1:EE (from Gog) I was tinkering around the different weapon proficiencies, to see if any of them do anything, when I noticed that if the druid transforms with a weapon (dagger, stick or scimitar) in the off hand, something happens.
Well, the werewolf has 2 normal attacks with the claws, and now he gets a third attack with the weapon.
This third attack has the damage of the weapon (1d4 for dagger, 1d8 for scimitar, 1d6 for bludgeon), uses weapon proficiencies for the weapon (the weapon proficiency gives +3 to attack, I think).
Probably it also works with magic weapons.
I though this was cool, because now the druid can use some weapons that normally nobody wants. But thinking about it, it seems like an exploit.
....
Now, the question.
Somebody knows if this is officially a bug?
Is there any list of resolved bugs for Extended Edition? Because I think that this "exploit" also happened in BG1 (non extended edition), but in that version the extra attack with the off weapon was not affected by weapon proficiencies.
Kind regards.
