IWD II EE setup - any how to guides?

Wasn't sure where to post this, apologies if it's wrong.

I have the original CD. I understand this can be used to add the EE component to. Is there a step by step guide on setup. Also are there are patch files i should obtain? thought I saw a comment about needing the latest patch if running off of CD rather GOG
