Admission to BP1 for level 1 solo characters: 3 awesome LoB Taslois LoL

YigorYigor Member Posts: 805
(BP1 = Black Pits 1, LoB =Legacy of Bhaal)

I succeded only with following kits: Shaman and Totemic Druid, thanks to their Spirit Animals.

The main problems:

– you start without any armor
– (LoB) Taslois have 80+ hp
– you can wound them only on critical hits
– available weapons: 1 club, 1 dagger, 1 short sword, 1 quarterstaff, 1 short bow + 20 arrows
– no familiars

If you have ideas for other classes/kits, please let me know. 😎

Usually, players bypass it by taking some levels on Normal/Core/Hard/Insane, then restarting on LoB. 👈

I guess it's not really intended for level 1 characters, much less 1 level 1 character alone; Sure, there are ways to overcome this, but you have to put in a lot of effort: #

    I'll try some later xD

Have you seen that you can make one of the ''commoners'' that appear to use your Bhaalspawn abilities for a while before he dies? For me it was the human male one.

You pause the game, click on him, and he have your skills in 'special abilities' button for some seconds :o

Maybe if you have Horror, he can try to cast it on those taslois. Sure it will fail vs. their saving throws, anyway.

I was able to hurt one with Vampiric Touch.

Not so useful anyway, but well; I guess it can help with a Shaman (I was trying a Shapeshifter Druid there for no reason):

Wow this exploit might be quite helpful! 👍

My Shaman passed the admission test anyway. 😎

Tactics: Entangle + Dance. It's long and requires some luck too. 😉

@Wisterias Anyway, bro, U don't like to play solo. Just create any group, containing Shaman or Totemic Druid, and U should succeed! 😉

Maybe this drunkard is a Bhaalspawn too... :o

Yes, It's doable with shaman, you can go AFK and return to see what happened xD Problem is when 'no animals answer your call...'

I only did some solo runs of BG1 Original back in time, one with some M/T IIRC. I think she was and elven. But normally I prefer to play full parties, yes.

I don't get how totemic druid works tbh. I cast 'Spirit Animal' but nothing happens, it works at lvl 1? Because I can't summon any animal.

Yes, it works. After casting the spell just wait a half-second (don't make any actions) in order to choose the spirit animal.

However, there is a bug (or awkward implementation) and it doesn't work properly on some platforms (someone already complained about it here). 😼

    Oh, I see it now.
