BG1, Can I import a character from one campaign to another?

I've Exported my character. Is there some way to get them in my party in a different campaign?
Assuming there is no straightforward way to do this, can I export all my characters, start a new campaign, and import the characters from two different campaigns?
And FYI, the reason I'm asking this is I discovered one character was flawed (wrong race to dual class), and I found this out at level 2, so I built a different character to replace that one, and now I can't figure out how to replace the flawed character with the new one.
