Throne of Bhaal: Cash management during Watcher's Keep campaign

You need cash ... lots of cash ... to buy those nice high end items. You know the ones; level 9 spell scrolls, recharging powerful wands etc. But knowing where to best sell your loot is helpful. Not going to give away any spoilers, but among other nefarious traits, those mooks on top of Watcher's Keep are con artists and grifters. I usually head for the lower levels of the Keep after finishing up in Saradush. Then I noticed that the money I received atop the tower from selling loot was literally only about 1/3 of what I would get for the same item sold to the Temple in Saradush. Hence, I ended up heading back to Saradush (via the Pocket Plane) to sell all the loot I scored in the Keep itself. Most of you veteran players were probably already aware of this, but hopefully a few will find this information helpful.

OK, I am sure most of you folks are veteran players, and already know this, but maybe some folks might appreciate this info. When a wand is down to its last charge, you can get it back to new by selling it to a merchant, and then buying it back. Needless to say, the merchant wants to make a profit and will chatge you a fair amount more than he paid for it. Another reason to achieve the best cash flow you can.

Sure, high CHA and REP are also important to get good prices. 😎

Ah well, that's also true. But while I do have one person with a decent charisma, this is an all evil party, with a rep right now of 4. We are universally despised. I could boost our rep by tossing monetary donations to a Temple, but a) that costs money, which is what we don't want to waste in the first place, and b) too high a reputation would make this dastardly crew start to grumble. Also, from a game and RP perspective, it seems a bit cheesy. I mean, some lawful good deity will forgive us for being mass murderers if we toss his priest a few silvers? How hypocritical!

Another thing I found out recently is that, until you actually get the news that Saradush is no longer available, you can still teleport to the town and conduct financial transactions. Apparently what you don't know actually can't hurt you. The power of belief is apparently strong in this universe. "And if everyone who believes in fairies wishes really hard, Tinkerbelle will ..." etc. Personally, I always wanted Tinkerbelle to stay dead. Well, ok, Captain Hook was my favorite character, since I am a low grade sociopath. Which probably accounts for my penchant for running evil parties.
