Cave of the Dead: Quest incomplete

We made it to Amkethrain and spoke to a dude nemed Marlow. We are supposed to kill some lich in the cave of the dead to save his daughter. Unfortunately we can't get past the forcefield at the entrance. Frustrated, I did a Google search, and apparently to get inside, Marlow first has to pass a message to some monk, something which he never mentioned to us. Probably there was some trigger question that I neglected to ask him which would have led to that dialogue option. However, when I go back and talk to him again, he never brings this up. All he does is ask if we saved his daughter yet. I did not think to save the game prior tp speaking with him. Is thie quest deader than the lich involved?

    OK never mind. It seems that I have to actually look for this wretched monk, and the first time I did so was in the dead of night, so I walked right past him. When I looked again 8 hours later, he was much easier to spot. The problem (envorionmental effects) should have been obvious, but I guess I was a little slow today. :blush:
