Hide in shadows in Icewind Dale 2

unlike in Icewind Dale 1, in IWD2 u cant hide when there are monsters that can see you - is this normal, or a bug?

You should not be able to hide when monster can see you in IWD1, unless you cast blind spell on your thief, or you play a shadow dancer.

in IWD1 it worked like this: u press the Hide in shadows button and it stays pressed an after a random amount of time u turn invisible even if there are monsters near you. in IWD2, the check is performed instantly, like you press the button and if the conditions arent met for you to turn invisible, the button becomes unusable for some time.

    Hmm, EE or Original?
In EE, this doesn't work like that.

🤔 I seem to remember that now about the originals...

It works different in IWD2, yes, you always have to be away from monsters to hide. You need a good level of hide and move silently skills to remain invisible, and once you are discovered in the middle of combat, you cannot hide again unless you move out of the monster's sight.

Don't think this is a bug anyway.

Thief in IWD 2 is pointless tbh... I mean, some backstab is nice, but it's not so powefull; and you will do better with a mage with hight int/dex to perform tasks like disarm traps, etc.

    Or a bard.

Some ppl takes 1-2 thief levels and then goes full mage or something.

Well, you can, but the result is not impressive 🙃.

This game is owned by Sorcerers and Clerics tbh.
