Opinion Poll: Big Metal Unit

OK, I am just curious. Have any of you players out there actually been able to construct this abomination? The requirements seem to me to be totally absurd. You would have to know from the very start of the campaign what you needed, then hold onto all that stuff until you rampaged through Abazagil's Lair in ToB, and then bring all the required components to the Smithy in Amkethran. Now, I can see why they would want this to be difficult to do; if my level 26 Half-Orc Berserker got hold of such an item, they would be ridiculously OP. But if that's the case, why offer such a possibility in the first place? The entire concept seems contrary to all logic. Sounds to me like some Developer had too much free time on their hands, got bored, and wrote this ludictous item into the game.

I think it’s sort of a fun joke. There’s almost no way a player would get it on their first play through, it’s aimed at those who want to dig more deeply into things on a later play.

For myself, it’s too immersion breaking and I’m not interested. Not to mention, one of the components requires evil actions I simply will not do.

Agree with @atcDave and I have never built it as it breaks the immersion for me. It is a fun Easter egg.

It does also remind me of the NWN Aielund Saga metal golems)
