help me with my party setup.

first off dont worry about ruinng the game for me, i still have the 6 cd set from back in the day. but back then i was little and barely understood the mechanics. today things are a bit easier. A BIT. lol. hardcore game this is.

i wish any advice going forward on my current party setup:
mychar: half-orc fighter

dex:15(dex gauntlets make it 18 now)

Lawful good

rest of party is:
khalid lvl 1 -fighter
jahiera lvl 2 - fighter/druid
imoen lvl 2 -theif
neera lvl 1 - wilds mage
ajantis lvl 2 - paladin
nobody is dual/multied.

Play lawful good and fill your party with all the evil npcs you can find! Montaron, Xzar, Kagain, Viconia comes to mind. I think you can get all those pretty early on. Been quite a while since I last played. Hehe, reminds me of BG2 and that paladin... with the beard, he just "loved" evil characters.

I forgot Edwin! You can have a REAL party with all those in your group - while you're playing good!

The party is OK, but your character would be a lot more effective if you had given him 18 dex. Wisdom could be 10, you don't need it as a fighter. Charisma is good for reaction bonuses, but as a fighter it's better to have 18 Dex and 13 Cha instead of your current stats. Despite all that though, your character is pretty strong (you obviously have enough patience to roll really high starting stats ).

just an update.... i gave my char the gaunlents of dex.... his dex is now 18.lol

hmm you could have dumped wis/char on yours as well to get 19/18/19 Or even Int - as this stat plays only a bigger role in BG2 vs Illithids. (or if you are a mage...which you obviously are not ^^)

Imoen got already 16 charisma and with the easy-to-get-cloak 18; so concerning NPC-prices you just could have use her as your speaker. 18 Charisma gives you further 85% reduction on item-prices, else there is no other effect to this stat; ahh maybe the party-reaction for newly recruited NPC - but as your party is good nonetheless, it doesn't matter.

I'd replace khalid with minsc or even rasaad but I get it if you don't want to break up couples. Also with only one mage this is the kind of party where dual classed mage imoen really shines. If you go that route you could take Coran to pick locks until she gets her thief skills back (again, possibly kicking Khalid).

I just don't like khalid, or jaheira for that matter. I usually toss Branwen or Viconia into good partys to get more cleric from my cleric.

for some reason i remember six, maybe it was just five. one for each chapter + prologue?
havent touched them in awhile. man do i miss changing CDs at random points ingame.
