Rasaad's quest

.....OK, I am seriously starting to get annoyed here. We have defeated all of the room gauaridans, gotten the various rewards, and then the Combat Master appears, and we head off to battle the heretic monks. This is where things get hairy. The enemy is ridiculously strong, and we seem to have little chance against them.
.....And we aren't holding back. Jaheira pops off an Insect Plague, then summons a Fire Elemental. Viconia and I summon a total of 3 Skeletal Warriors, then I pop Melf's meteors + offensive spin while Vicinia chants. Yoshimo is firing off +2 arrows, while Jan is tossing off fireballs right and left with his wand of fire.
.....Absolutely none of this makes any difference in the least. The enemies are so numrerous and so OP they can fight through any of the restrictions we place upon them. Miscast magic? Barely slows them down. Horror? Ok some of them start running around scared, but most don't care.
.....Now, it is true that we can retreat back into the Temple and cast healing spells, but it doesn't help us out as far as the actual combat is concerned. We can't actually sleep and recover spells. And when we emerge, all the summoned critters have been killed off. The only thing I can think of doing is pop off a haste and an Ivisibility 10 radius, and then run like hell for the exit. And if the weakest members, namely Rasaad and Jan, get killed off, well, they can be replaced. But, seriously, I gotta ask ... who the heck came up with this scenario, and what were they smoking? I want a toke of that!

I just did it yesterday without issue.
This fight is far from being among the hardest in BG2.
I would suggest the usual buffs like chaotic command, haste, protection from evil 10 radius, remove fear, and potions of invulnerability, heroism and strength.
Aerial servants are also nice summons. Yoshimo can also uses his special snares.

Well, I suppose I can try it again. But it's easier to drop Rasaad once I have all the goodies. OK, let me see what happens.

OK, by pulling out all the stops, and using every cheap trick possible, I finally won that fight. Barely. By the skin of my teeth. The Master of Combat, plus all of the monks on my side and 4 of my crew of 6 were dead at the end, my own health was in the red, we had used up a slew of healing potions, wand charges etc. but technically, we did win. Thank the gods I was packing the Rod of Resurrection! :o
