multiple servers on one computer

hey all, i posted this in the multiplayer section but didn't get a response, so trying here. Is it possible to run multiple servers/modules on one computer, and if so how? It seems to me that you can only have one instance of the server software running at one time or things bug out? I've spent days trawling the internet for guidance, but only found one post dating back 2019 of someone asking the same question with no answer.

I've tried using jimbob, but that just sits on top of the server application. The server itself seems to be the issue here. Are people using virtual machines? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I think it comes down to the settings.tml file. It lives in my documents and any amount of instances of the server will look to that one file for all the settings.
    Virtual machines sounds like the easiest way to go.
