Neera Romance bug? *Spoilers*

Hello!

After killing the Hobgoblin king, and watching the Wild Mage teleport away, Neera started some dialog. After which, no matter which dialog option I choose, she ends up pissed at me.

"Ohof course CHARNAME, I had forgotten this was all about YOU"

And then refuses to speak with me. Is this a bug? Or will it be resolved later?

Ugh, the second I killed the mages I got the "I've been thinking about you" dialogue, which I ran through, and then that was it; no quest resolution in my journal, either. Got feeling something is broke here, which is a shame because that fight is truly *horrific* :(

After the Red Wizards die, the Wild Mage should appear again, and after he leaves is what I'm having trouble with... As for your problem, I think you need to re-load an earlier save, see if that helps.

I am absaloutely not fighting those f*ckers again. Not even for a chance at smooching the Felicia Day sounda-like crazy-mage lady :/

The other wild mage does come back in my game, though. I have a fantastic magical girdle that does....nothing. Except perhaps make me look stylish? I dunno. I'm a half orc. We're not experts in this kind of thing, tbf :(

And did Neera get annoyed at you? Or did you find a path around that?
  • VissiousVissious Member Posts: 53
No dialogue *after* receiving the girdle other than the "I've been thinking about you" stuff, so I'm guessing I've missed something here.

Right. Anyone else have a solution?

I killed them twice, and ended up with the same as you. The romance continued afterwards though. If you look at your options she'll get pissy either way.

    Give it some time.

Cheers for the reply then, I'll continue playing :D

I have the same issue as @Jared4242 got the talk after getting girdle from Adoy and no dialogue since them. And it was like 6 hours ago. I thought maybe she will talk with me in next chapter or when i get into baldur's gate but still nothing.

I'm getting the feeling many of the quests are broken.

Hell, even the journal doesn't function properly.

I wasn't sure if I was being impatient myself, I actually found that fight pretty easy... Glitter Dust, Summon Monster Wand, Rasaad and Dorn chunking everyone in red, it was a good fight that went just about perfectly... was afraid to reload it and jinx myself. But yea, Neera just snapped at me like I was a drooling moron after the fight and Adoy gave us the perfectly normal girdle...

I am having the same problem. After I did the quest she was pissed either way what I answered. I did however expect that out of the choices of dialogue. But now I have been playing for nearly a week, couple of hours a day, and still nothing from Neera. No talking, no romance..nothing. Does this mean that I have to reload before I met her and I will be fixed from the patch?

Truth be told, Neera's romance is buggy (looping issue comes to mind, among other things) and ends abruptly, with no clear indication that it is "done" for this game (as it is supposed to be continued in BG2EE). The only way to be sure, is check the Global 'Neera_Romance', using clua console [CLUAConsole:GetGlobal("Neera_Romance","GLOBAL")]. If that is set to 3, you are basically done with her (no more dialogue, except an encounter in the city, if you haven't already experienced that). If it is set to 1 or 2, it means the romance is ongoing and sooner or later, she will speak to you. If it it set to -1, you probably said something to upset her but I'm not sure if that will prevent her from ever speaking to you again (regardless it's not a good sign and should be avoided, if your intention is to keep the romance alive).

Thanks for the quick answer :). I checked it now and it's set to three. So that means the romance is over, except the happening in Baldurs Gate which I have yet to do. What I got was kinda pointless, and I didn't get a kiss which I read somewhere. Maybe I was too mean to hear? Heh, that was dissapoiting.

Maybe she just kissed and forgot :P

I know women who work that way...

I had this problem as well i later found the gnome or halfling that said she owned him money and still nothing happened after that. I'm also set at 3. I never got the kiss option either.

You can probably edit it in the console

Perhaps the problem needs to reach Baldur's Gate

I'll have to check her status when I get home, I haven't heard a peep out of her since Adoy either, and I'm already in Baldur's Gate. Maybe she's just not into my cocky, evil F/T. Oh well.

I'm not really sure where this kiss idea got started--I suspect it was possibly an early misapprehension on my part that got out of hand--but the last romance dialogue ends with her saying "not yet." There isn't a kiss as far as I'm aware looking through the dialogues.

Oh okay. I don't remember where I read it. But I can distinctly remember reading somewhere on here. Yeah well!
  • loganultimaloganultima Member Posts: 109
Well I don't remember about the kiss part I just know that she doesn't talk to me after the adoy enclave quest. I am somewhat disappointed at the "an engaging romantic adventure' advertising...I hope it's better in BG2.

I managed to get the kiss on my archer, but I neglected the neera quest, did the mine, got some bandits, then it happened in jovial juggler. He is an elf chaotic good. Not sure if that helps.

Has there ever been third-person narrative in the text box? PS:T is the only game I can think of with descriptions; IWD and BG only have dialogue, IIRC. I can't immagine how the IE implements kissing.
  • LiamEslerLiamEsler Member Posts: 1,859
@Gish, where/when does she kiss you? I can't seem to find that dialogue in the files, so any information you can give would be super helpful :D

For those interested in a bit more romantic content, I just added some force-talk flirts ala the BGII Flirt Pack as part of my Neera Expansion mod here: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/10145/neera-dialogue-expansion-mod-in-the-works#latest

I think some people are taking the "mmmm..." as a kiss

Here's my summary of the situation in the related bug thread:

@Kaeloree The kiss happens in the third romance talk with Neera.
It starts "Sometimes I'm surprised you let me tag along." Pick the flattering options (more than one path), and you should eventually get the choice to say "Come a little closer..." Then you kiss. :)
  • LiamEslerLiamEsler Member Posts: 1,859
@Jalily Ahh, I didn't read that as a kiss :D Fair enough! Thanks!
