Death ward doesn't protect against imprisonment.
    Imprisonment doesn't kill.

    then this page:
    https://baldursgate.fandom.com/wiki/Avoid_Death
    is wrong.

"Once the ability is initiated, the character is immune to the following status effects and any associated texts or icons:

    Disintegrate effect
    Imprisonment effects
    Kill target (Vorpal hit)
    Level drain
    Petrification"

Hindo Doom grants death ward, not avoid death.

well, the avoid death hla ingame text says you become immune to death magic, and then the fandom page explains that this includes Imprisonment. text on Hindos Doom also says you are immune to death magic. in the end i beat those elder orbs, i used a wand to summon some monsters and they casted the nasty spells on the summons, it was easy after that. after a few tries, i think Avoid Death would indeed save me from imprisonment, but Hindos Doom equiped and no Avoid Death wouldnt. but then they also cast Maze, which i believed isnt covered at all, either by Hindo or Avoid Death.

That doesn't mean the two use the same effect.
Hindo Doom grants the Death Ward effect, which is different than Avoid Death HLA.
Death Ward doesn't protect against imprisonment, so Hindo Doom doesn't protect against it either.
When you click on the protect against death magic spells effect from Hindo Doom in the fandom wiki page, it leads you to Death Ward description, not Avoid Death description.

ok, i understand you. but we can agree, both the HLA and Hindo say they make you immune to death magic, and Fandom says, without making any distinction, this includes imprisonment. the following is from the Hindos Doom page on Fandom: "it gives the wearer 10% magical resistance and grants complete immunity against all forms of death magic."

so, the real reason i was mislead is the way Fandom explains the effect of Avoid Death, making it look like Imprisonment is included in Death Magic. and also, the name Death Ward only appears ingame in the character window, not in the weapon info. also doesnt appear at all in the Fandom page for Hindos Doom.

Indeed, Death Ward and similar effects do not generally protect against imprisonment - it's not death magic. The only player-accessible effects with specific protection against imprisonment are berserker Enrage, rogue HLA Avoid Death, and shaman HLA Favored of the Spirits. The two HLAs there also protect against death magic, while rage doesn't. (Several other effects protect against imprisonment spells in other ways, of course)

... You know, the descriptions of those two HLAs really should mention the imprisonment protection. It's an important part of the effect, and if you take the current descriptions at face value you'll never assume it.

Chatbots can't tell the difference between a fact and a hole in the ground. Asking them questions (with a factual basis) is a waste of time; you learn nothing from their answers.
