Infinite Mercenaries in Amkethran?

i killed Abazigal and returned to Amkethran. i want to clear the area of enemies, but those Mercenaries seem to spawn continuously, is there an end to their number or is it goes on forever?
LE: apparently theres a fixed number, as it seems i killed them all. but now ive another problem: there are 2 monks at the monastery gate, and when i kil one another immediately spawns in his place. is this forever, o is there a limited number of times it will happen?
