It's official -- Ravager is NOT a tough fight for solo fighters, barbarians, paladins, et all melee

Hey hey hey! My first week on these forums but long time BG2 player coming off of a many year break (in. between jobs when this started).

Was soloing my melee ranger and couldn't nail Ravager on core rules difficulty. I researched everywhere and all the guidance was for using spells and traps against that beastie.

I so came up with this method for my speedrunning melee ranger (no great gear, level 31 at the time of this bout). The method described is here, facing ravager on core rules difficulty:

And the new video that proves the method is worth knowing is here:

Let me know your thoughts! And share with any buddy you have who needs a reason to get back into BG2!!!

FoA with its slowing effect that stacks with itself rules, possibly the best weapon in BG2 as you can have it early in the game, upgrade it in ToB.
You show good use of speed to divert the boss helpers that are very annoying, well done!

Thanks, Gorgan! Yes, flail o ages -- "better" weapons consistently perform worse in fights Ravager. Even when still on +3 rocking in TOB! And, what many speedrunners dont know, you can get it really fast. My other vids show that. Most importantly, you can get the flail (easily, even for an underlevel melee type, as mentioned) BEFORE the underdark. My other "must have" weapon is mentioned on this thread (below). People don't know about it.
