Is Kagain's Quest bugged/broken?

Just got him in my party, went north to the caravan area, and as soon as I got there he had a line of dialog saying, "we'll never find that damned caravan" and so on and gave up.

I moved over to the two caravans in the area, but nothing new triggered. Wasn't there supposed to be a dead body or something for him to look at?

    In the original game, iirc, Kagain's quest was largely cut.

    If you go to the area north of Beregost, it triggers that dialogue line & resolves. There wasn't anything else to it.

    Kagain's quest has always been broken. There isn't more to it than what you describe, not even in the original BG.

    However, I find it somehow fits with his personality. The Duke can f*** himself, he's off to get an ale. :)

    ...But it's still marked in the quest journal as unresolved. And it wasn't much of a quest. So, I guess that means there is a bug in there somewhere.

    It was always bugged or unfinished, what I was hoping for was a rewrite to just let it resolve quickly but no such luck when I tested it today.

    Hm... I thought the "Quests" were new to the EE.

    Strikes me as odd that EE didn't at least mark the quest as finished when Kargain has abandoned it.

    Perhaps they left it open on purpose to leave open a window for the modding community to take a crack at it?

    I also think its hillarious that Kagain just says screw it.

    Yes, it remains unfinished no matter what you do. I can't believe they didn't catch that during testing.
