Multiplayer-Very unstable with more than 2 people
I don't think this has been addressed specifically in another post yet so:
With 5 people who can all individually play the game with virtually no problems, the game becomes very unstable when everyone connects. Often clicking on other player portraits or trying to move items from their inventories created a game freeze. The game consistently failed to keep other players positions up to date where characters would appear invisible to other players or standing still where the game was loaded (though not the host). The most game breaking errors were the freezes during dialogue (usually just not ending properly) or when accessing other players stats or inventories. These actions would result in player freezes who then could not rejoin the game until it was remade.
As has already been mentioned: changing areas with any number of players connected to the host created a freeze at the map screen (sometimes the sound of the next area played, though the map screen was loading permanently or players lost connection).
Permanent pausing after resting anywhere not outdoors was solved by copying and renaming the rest.wbm movie file to restinn.wbm and restdung.wbm (this plays the outdoor tent movie when resting anywhere).
Often the game would connect via ip but the player name would not be an option for the host to switch control of a player slot to (it was greyed out) and the game would have to be remade several times before all players could connect properly.
We all were using different hardware which I can't remember right now but the game is stable for us individually. We were all using windows 7, we tried running the program in windows xp SP3 compatibility mode as well as regular windows 7. There was no perceptible change in how the game ran. I'm sure this is missing a million details but I'm tired from troubleshooting this for several hours--It looks like my epic LAN adventure will have to be on hold until these bugs are addressed. I'm sure they'll be more tested when the online capabilities are added and it becomes easier to get groups of people together.
