AI generation image: The lower reaches before the fall.

When I first played Baldur’s Gate II, the Cult of the Unseeing Eye left a strong impression on me — particularly the abandoned temple and the sense of a place that had once been alive.

Revisiting the area years later, and carefully studying the layout of the Lower City map, it becomes clear how intentionally this location was designed.
Its architecture, elevation, and water structures strongly suggest that Black Isle had a precise vision of the temple before its fall.

Using AI as a visual tool, I attempted to recreate a possible interpretation of this lost place — not to replace the original design, but to highlight what the game subtly implies.

Secretum Nexum is pleased to share this visual exploration of one of Baldur’s Gate II’s most evocative locations.

That is really impressive. I’ve come to use AI a lot for character themed images, but locations strike me as much more involved, especially to get this sort of consistency between the renders. Very dramatic.

Thank you, I really appreciate that.

You’re absolutely right — locations require a different kind of consistency than characters. What interested me here was trying to respect what the original map already suggests, rather than inventing something entirely new.

Small architectural details, the water structures, the elevation… they all gave me the feeling that this place once had a very different purpose. The AI was mainly used as a tool to explore that idea visually, not to overwrite the original design.

I’m glad it resonated with you — that’s exactly what I hoped for.
