Playing Campaign with my friends online - what do you suggest?

Hi there, we are starting a new adventure in Neverwinter and I will be the one hosting the game.

I have understood that I have two possibilities to host a game: either I use Neverwinter client to create a new online game and host it from there, or I launch the server from the standalone launcher.

The thing is... I don't know what to choose!

The goal would be to progress together in the campaign, so I would like to be able to save the progress within the Chapter we are playing (as well as the character progress) and it seems to be possible by launching the game via the game client (but, what if I am not available for playing? My mates won't be able to play either).

On the other hand, if I launch the server from the standalone software, it seems I lose the possibility to save my progress, there is only the possibility to "save server status" which I don't actually understand what it does.

So, community, what do you suggest?

Thank you all for your contribution! If you have any material to share, I would be glad to study it!

If you use the standalone server, you generally need to have the module set up for multi-player from the start, which includes having scripting to save PC progress through quests and suchlike, and scripting to restore that progress when the PC re-enters the module.
If you share the game as an online game from the player client, you can just save the progress locally on your own machine and then re-load it at the start of the next game session. I've never actually tried to do that, so I can't advise if there's anything to look out for because of using that method.
