Do you still prefer slower strategy-based games over fast competitive games?
I’ve noticed that I spend less time on fast-paced competitive games now and enjoy slower strategy-focused games more, especially ones with long-term progression, base management, or tactical planning. Games where you can improve over time without feeling rushed are honestly more relaxing for me.
Recently, I started revisiting mobile strategy games while also playing classic RPGs, and it reminded me how much community discussions and player strategies can improve the experience.
Do most people here still prefer slower strategy games, or are competitive multiplayer games more popular now?

When BG first came out in 1998 I passed on it. They made a big deal of real time. My only response is “no thank you”.
Several months later a friend explained the whole “Real Time with Pause” and significantly *Auto Pause* to me. That made all the difference in the world.
It quickly became my favorite game. I’ve played the saga through probably 100 times now in almost 30 years. I still use auto-pause on most stops. But I would say the unique Infinity Engine is probably the best of having things both ways, and the most inspired game engine design ever.
