Corthala family armor gives penalty to crushing and value to slashing?

The info on Corthala family armor is this: 0 vs. slashing and 4 vs. crushing. When i put this on Valygar, slashing becomes -2 and crushing becomes +2. How so? How come i get 2 points bonus in slashing protection from 0 to -2 when it's written "0 vs. slashing" and how come i get a penalty of +2 points in crushing protection when it probably should be +4?

Since Valygar (and all others for that matter) does not have any natural attributes, the fact that his crushing resistance becomes +2 indicates that i literally make him weaker against crushing attacks instead of his natural unwritten value 0 with no armor?

I know what "to hit armor class 0 (chance) means", but what i do not understand is how armor statistics translate into person's protections against certain attacks when they are written so wanky.

When i see armor having a value +4 crushing, i understand it will increase the chance to hit armor class 0, by subtracting additional 4 points to the minus scale from whatever you have. If you have 0, it will be -4, and if you have -3, it will be -7.

When i see armor having a value of -6 crushing, i understand it will force your THA0 to be set straight at -6 no matter if you have 0 or -3.

But..

When i see armor having a value of 4, with no MINUS or PLUS, i can not understand shit! Help me out here!

this could be a typo bug, technically valygars armor gives you the same modifiers as chainmail ( -2 slashing, +2 crushing ) is what it is supposed to give you for modifiers, and in fact it probably is in actual game, but the inventory sheet or character sheet might be giving you a stref line error

or unless you have mods installed that changes the properties of armor, then there is a possibly that, a mod could be affecting it

plus when it comes to modifiers, these are additional AC bonuses or penalties opponents receive when they attack you depending on what type of armor they are wearing ( this also applies to your characters when you are attacking enemies with certain armor types )

so for example if full plate gives AC 1, and -3 slasing, and -2 piercing, that just means when wearing full plate, your AC vs slashing is 4 points better and piercing its 3 points better

but with chainmail you get AC 5 ( 3 vs slashing, 7 vs crushing ) meaning enemies get a -2 penalty if they use slashing weapons against you and a +2 bonus if they are using crushing weapons against you

Every npc have standard AC =10.
So description of armor with no MINUS or PLUS., means that standard AC is being changed and setted to new value.

This description of the armor is inaccurate.

    The description states
Armor Class: 2 (0 vs. slashing, 4 vs. crushing)
For better or worse, armor descriptions express all AC vs. specific types as a base armor class. Ignoring dexterity for the moment, this armor improves your base AC from 10 to 2. Your slashing AC is even better, improving from 10 to 0, while crushing is not as good, being an improvement from 10 to 4. Any type not listed (piercing, missile) has no malus or bonus and just uses the base AC.

How this is actually implemented and (what you see reflected in the various information screens) is that the armor sets base AC to 2, and then adds a -2 bonus to slashing AC and a +2 malus to crushing AC. The overall effect is the same: a base AC 2, AC 0 vs. slashing and AC 4 vs. crushing. Dexterity bonuses--in Valygar's case, an additional -4 AC bonus due to his 18 DEX--are applied on top of these values.

His unwritten value with no Armor isnt 0. Is 10 as for most characters.
Then is changed by 4 as a bonus from dexterity -NATURAL ATRRIBUTE
Every non-cursed armor is setting up a new value (better than 10 AC), and after that bonuses and maluses are being cummulated.
In your case there had to be some malus/es (from other equipment, or effect) deducting 2 points from slashing protection and crushing also.
