Can abilities like Defensive Spin be modded to be uninterruptible?

Had my Blade attempt to activate defensive spin. Got interrupted by a hit as I was activating it. That has never happened before.
Is there perhaps an easy fix that I can do to mod both abilities to be uninterruptible?
