Choice of 4th Level Spells for Shamans *** Links May Have Spoilers ***
If Gorion’s Ward is a Shaman, which scales better towards the end of SoA and into ToB: Negative Plane Protection, Call Woodland Beings, Defensive Harmony or Poison?
Defensive Harmony has a short casting time but it’s only a -2 to AC bonus and it lasts a short time. I’ve read Armor Class becomes less and less important towards to endgame; that damage reduction is more important then. However, since it will be my Shaman casting it, he will be able to cast it multiple times in a battle, which could prove useful.

Negative Plane Protection lasts a very short amount of time and if you have a cleric that is high enough level you can just blast away vampires with Turn Undead. However it has a very fast casting time and a Shaman would be able to cast it multiple times per battle so it may be useful.

Poison does grievous damage at high levels but it has a save for no damage and that saving throw has no modifier so by the time Poison really starts brutalizing enemies there is a great chance they’ll make their save and it won’t hurt them at all. This is compounded by the fact that many creatures are immune to poison. However, I could cast Chant, Doom and Greater Malison before casting 3 Poisons in a row to see what happens. One may get through and if it does it would be devastating.

Call Woodland Beings is a great summons at low to medium levels. It has a fantastic spell battery, some of which are higher level spells. All that for one fourth level spell! However, how many of her spells are going to be that effective against the saves and magic resistance of more powerful creatures? Furthermore, the AI on it is frustrating

Any advice?
