Announcing - Auldwyn: A Brand New Original Persistent World for NWN1 EE

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to chime in to give you guys a heads-up about a new server that's recently gone life.

It's named Auldwyn, and we're welcoming players to come and have a look. Here's our introduction.
There is something strange about Neverwinter Nights persistent worlds.

They can feel less like games and more like places.

You make a character, step through the gates, and discover that other people have already left footprints behind. There are stories you weren't there for, places you haven't seen, people whose names mean something to someone else. The world continues whether you're watching or not.

That feeling is what led to Auldwyn.

Auldwyn is a new, original fantasy persistent world for Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition. It is now live.

Rather than recreating an established setting, we wanted to build a world of our own. Auldwyn has its own history, regions, cultures, religions, gods, mysteries, and stories. There is no existing campaign setting you are expected to know before you arrive.

You can simply enter and start discovering.

The philosophy is deliberately closer to an authentic tabletop campaign than a conventional theme-park MMO. Exploration matters. Characters can develop their own stories. The world has room for roleplay, but roleplay isn't mandatory. We want different kinds of NWN players to be able to find their own way to enjoy the world.

Auldwyn is also intentionally young.

That means there are still things being discovered. The world is still growing. Its history isn't twenty years old, and its community isn't a finished product. Players arriving now aren't simply walking into an established museum. They're arriving while the world is becoming itself.

The server is live and actively developing.

If you remember why persistent worlds were such a special part of Neverwinter Nights in the first place, or if you've never experienced one and are curious about what all the fuss was about, Auldwyn is open.
