Updated my journal.

Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition 3.2 patch improves the overall quality-of-life experience, bringing new languages, native Apple Silicon support, easier mobile modding & file transferring, and more.

Patch Highlights
  • Steam Cloud saves can now be controlled via the Steam client — Previously, the only way to enable or disable Steam Cloud Saves for PST:EE was within the Gameplay Options of the game. Now, Steam Cloud Saves are controlled by the Steam client and the individual game properties settings.
  • GOG Galaxy Cloud saves — now functioning properly.
  • New localizations — We added the following community-translated languages to the game: Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Ukrainian, and Simplified Chinese. Additionally, Czech is now available on mobile.
  • Modron’s Maze Fix — Resolved an issue where modded content was incorrectly reloaded or removed from save files when Modron’s Maze was generated. This should prevent areas from resetting after leaving the Maze.
  • Dynamic language support — We made changes to allow easier language updates and additions in the future.
  • Chinese font change — At the request of the Chinese localization volunteers, we have changed the font for Chinese.
  • Font Size saved per font language — The Font Size zoom setting is now saved per font language.
  • UI Scaling option in Graphics settings — Enabled: UI scales to better fit the game window; Disabled: UI remains at the intended 1024×768 size regardless of window size.
  • Simplified dialog.tlk Modding — Modding dialog.tlk is now easier: you can place your preferred dialog.tlk file in: <user_path>\Documents\Planescape Torment - Enhanced Edition\override\dialog.tlk. This file will be used regardless of in‑game language settings.
  • Added Apple Silicon support — With native support for Apple Silicon, on Mac devices you can expect faster app launch times, overall improved performance, and faster rendering. In addition, laptops will benefit from lower power consumption while playing, leading to longer battery life.
  • macOS version — Minimum supported macOS version is now macOS 10.15.
  • iOS version — Minimum supported iOS version is now iOS 15.0.
  • New Linux software library — Migrated from libssl to OpenSSL to improve compatibility with newer distributions.
  • Android Foldable Support — Fixed UI scaling and touch‑input issues on foldable and tall‑aspect devices. The game now properly resizes when the device’s screen configuration changes.
  • iOS Hardware Keyboard Support — Fixed an issue preventing external keyboards from functioning properly. Bluetooth and other hardware keyboards should now work as expected.
  • Mobile Keyboard Improvements — The UI now shifts so the text cursor remains visible above the virtual keyboard, preventing cursor loss and mis‑registered taps on Android.
  • Android Modding now works — This update resolves a bug that caused incorrect permissions, preventing access to game files on Android via PC or file browsers.
  • iOS Modding now supported — The game on iOS now stores and reads data from a location visible to standard file browsers. You can manage saves and other files directly on your device or by connecting it to a computer.
  • Android Override Folder Optimization — Fixed long boot delays caused by large /override/ folders. Importing is manual via an in‑game UI.
  • Fixed an iOS issue where .pstdata files weren’t recognized as a PST:EE file extension — While this method should now work, it is recommended to directly copy files to the user-accessible directories instead.

If you have enabled Steam Cloud Saves with the Gameplay Options setting, Steam Cloud Saves will continue to be enabled for you. Please note that with this in-game option enabled the game will sync your save games with the Steam Cloud Saves even if this option is disabled within the Steam client Cloud Save settings.

If you disable the in-game Steam Cloud Saves option, this option will no longer appear in the options menu. To enable Steam Cloud Saves, you will need to use the Steam Account and Application settings. See Steam Account and Application settings for Steam Cloud Saves.

Modding dialog.tlk files is now much easier to do

Players can place the dialog.tlk file they want to use in the home:/override/<language>/ folder. This file will be used whenever you change the in-game settings to the particular <language>.
Ex. using French: <user_path>\Documents\Planescape Torment - Enhanced Edition\override\fr_FR\dialog.tlk
→ now whenever the game is switched to French, the game will use the strings found in the above file, instead of those found in the game data
→ As a fallback override, you may also still place a dialog.tlk file directly into the home:/override/ folder. This file will be used for any language that does not have a home:/override/<language>/dialog.tlk file.
Continuing the example, let’s say this file is added: <user_path>\Documents\Planescape Torment - Enhanced Edition\override\dialog.tlk
→ with this file in place, every language except French will use it for the game strings
→ since there is still a home:/override/fr_FR/dialog.tlk file, that is what will be used for French

iOS User‑Accessible Game Data

The iOS games will now save games and read files from a location that is visible to file browsers. Users can access these files on the iOS device itself, or on MacOS or Windows by connecting their phone to a computer and using appropriate software to explore the device.

Ensure you have made a new save in the new iOS version so that the directory is created. If you want to access a particular save you made in a previous version, ensure that you upgrade the app (do not uninstall). Load the save, and then make a new save after loading. All new saves will appear in the user-accessible location.

- MacOS - use the Finder to open the device and view the Files tab to see any new saves the game has made
- Windows - use the Apple Devices software provided by Apple in the Windows Store to explore the device and view the Files tab to see any new saves the game has made
- iOS - use the Files app to view the game directories in the “On My <device>” section

Users that wish to add game overrides, portraits, etc. can do so by copying the appropriate folder to the game folder of their choice on the iOS device.

Android User‑Accessible Game Data

Android now supports exporting/importing user files to a visible directory: <root>/Documents/<game_name> Example: <root>/Documents/PlanescapeTorment/

Exporting:

- Saving a file exports it to <root>/Documents/<game>/save/<save_name>.
-Saves can be freely copied between PC and Android.
- Deleting a save in‑game also deletes it from the Documents location.

Importing:

- From the start menu: Options → Data Folder
- Data Folder: Shows the folder used for imports/exports.
- Permissions: No — folder not user‑selected; importing disabled.
- Permissions: Yes — folder selected; full read/write access.
- Select Folder: Choose the folder for future imports/exports.
- Import: Copies files from the selected folder into the game.
- Reload: Restarts the game — useful after importing override files.

Once a folder is selected (USER_DIR):

- All exports go to USER_DIR.
- Importing copies USER_DIR files into the game’s internal files.
- USER_DIR behaves like the PC Documents folder.

Examples:

- Place saves in USER_DIR/save/ → they appear after Import.
- Add portraits to USER_DIR/portraits/ → used after Import.

Important: The game never deletes or overwrites internal saves based on USER_DIR changes. Delete saves in‑game, not from USER_DIR.

[bCLEAR_IMPORTS Recovery[/b]

If imported mods cause crashes:

- Add a file named CLEAR_IMPORTS (no extension) to the selected Data Folder.
- Quit the game.
- On next boot, all imported files (except saves) are removed.
- The file is deleted automatically after the cleanup.

Android Permission Fix

Fixed a bug that incorrectly modified permissions in: <root>/Android/data/<game> This previously prevented access via PC or file browsers.

- Existing installations with incorrect permissions cannot be repaired. You must uninstall and reinstall the game.
- Back up your saves first by exporting them to the user‑accessible directory.
- Some devices may still restrict access to <root>/Android/data/. If needed, use the Marc apps & software “Files” app, or rely on the new import/export system via <root>/Documents/<game>.
