Magreb Quest broken? (spoilers)

spoilers below.. I don't know how to make a real spoilers tag.

So I talked to Magreb for the first time AFTER I killed the hobgoblin in the cave, and now every time I talk to him he asks me if I have found the hobgoblin that killed his wife.. There is no option to tell him "yes". I can only keep telling him that I will get to it eventually.

Is this bugged or am I missing something? Also, if it is bugged, what is the quest reward? Is it worth loading an old save to try to talk to him before I go into the cave?
