Little bit confused about the xp cap

Hi,

I plan to play bg:ee with a cleric, and dual it to a mage.
In this case what is the correct xp cap??
Can I reach level 8with cleric than lev 9 with mage??
Thanks!

The exp cap is always 161k. No you cannot reach 8 cleric / mage 9. The best you can do is cleric 7 / mage 8 and you might as well multi.

The xp cap uses your total xp gained, not the xp on each class.

And remember that until your mage hits that level one higher than the cleric you can't use any of your divine spells, wear armor or use your old weapon proficiencies.

Also beware because the game won't tell you if you already had a proficiency if you go to pick it again. Once you get your old abilities back proficiency dots don't stack.

Multi-class cleric/mage might be a smarter choice. As others have said, you won't really lose much in levels/spells in BG1, and you'll be crazy powerful in epic levels in BG2. With the right rings and necklace, a cleric/mage can have dozens of spells to cast. A lot of people disregard Quayle because you get him so late, and Aerie because she's the least interesting of the romances, but man, they can kick some arse.

No no...we disregred Aerie because she's a whining bitch AND her romance sucks......Qualyes hmmm...now that I think about it, she probably got that from Quayle...the only way I could ever stand to have him in the party was to bring Tiax along and watch them murder each other eventually (Tiax won, that ghoul is OP as hell)
