importing characters

I still have my old mage character sheet from 1998 and I'd like to import it if I can. I just can't find the folder where I need to place it.

    Try C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition\characters

    Ok bud I check that file spot but the only files in that branch were the saved games and temp folders. I've done a search for Characters but it only comes up with my Icewind dale character sheets.

    Just create the characters folder manually. Or you can export a character and the folder will be created for you.

    Ah well that makes perfect sense actually. I just thought that the folder would have existed from the get go. I'll get right on that :D Thanks again.

    My Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition\characters

    Characters you create get put into that folder, the default characters aren't saved there so if you never created a character on a fresh BG:EE install then you could just create the characters folder. (make sure you name it "characters", it's probably case-sensitive!)

    I'm going to assume I do the same thing with custom portraits and I have to make my own folder as well. I'll let you folks know how it goes in a bit.

    Worked just fine folks, and yes you have to make a custom portraits folder as well. Just for clarity I used "Characters" and "Portraits" when I made the folders.
    Looking forward to beating the hell out of Saravok again :D

    @RaxNahali, was this a BG1 original char? Did you import it with experience n all?

    Sjerrie this is my mage from the original BG1. I saved his final character sheet and portraits from that game and used them right through to the end of bg2 as well. I am very happy that this disk has followed me through 2 wives and several moves :D
