Tutorial Question

in New Players (NO SPOILERS!)
I'm new to BGEE and I'm at the end of the tutorial where it tells me to go in to the Basement and get a Gem I am not allowed to use any of the staircases in the room so how do I get to the Basement?

    The basement entrance is in the top left corner of that room, basically below the left side staircase. It doesn't really show very well in the graphics.

    And if you want to start the game with some cool equipment, export your character before finishing the tutorial. Its a bit cheesy but I like to start with more than a stupid stick :P
