I don't know if it is a bug or not but sometimes they are just gone.

    I think they leave once the Shade Lord quest is complete, since they no longer have any reason for leaving their farm.

    Haven't noticed them leaving on their own otherwise.

    Probably. But then... I found them there after the shade lord quest sometimes. (If I remember correctly)

    One of those chicken has a Diamond or a Star Sapphire, don't remember wich one, but with a potion glitch (drink a potion on your inventory, and swap it for a Gem, do it again and get 65535 gems stacked) to sell them and have money till the end of both SoA and ToB (ok, not that much but lots of money)
