No NPC banter?

It's been a while since my last dance with Baldur's Gate 1, but am I correct in recalling NPCs talking to one-another?

The only NPC that's broached a conversation so far has been Neela, with my character.

They banter a little, but I think there was a lot more in BG2. But I could be wrong.

I've not been getting any banters either outside of the new NPCs - they only talk to me.

I miss hearing the little conversations between party members.

original bg1 didn't really have any npc banter.
i have all 3 new npc's in my party, and no banter either. so i am not sure they will ; /

They used to throw out one-liners at each other, I think - It's been so long since I last played the original game. Pressing CTRL+I should initiate banter and the NPCs do sometimes look like they're about to say something, but they're still keeping mum.

    Shucks.

EDIT: Oh, nevermind. I just loaded the game and Jaheira started talking to Khalid. ABOUT TIME.

    *Spoilers*

There are a few banters, but generally only between specific characters. Tiax and Quayle have a couple of arguments, Kagain and Yeslick dislike one another and can come to blows, Kivan and Viconia are meant to have a bit of a chat as well. There's also quite a lot of banter between Garrick, Eldoth, Skie and Shar-Teel from what I hear, but I've never been put up with most of them long enough to hear it.

There is pretty minimal banter within the canon party, even Khalid-Jaheira stuff is rare.

    CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys()

    then CTRL-I triggers banters.

IMHO, it was the greatest improvement from BG1 to BG2. The fact that every time you played the game could change totally only because the characters you used... THAT'S how an RPG should be.
Also romances and epilogues... i simply can't play an evil character in BG2, knowing that i won't be able to get Aerie with me.

But since Aerie is a whiney bitch, isn't that a good reason to have an evil character?

    Well said.

Besides, why have Aerie when you can have Minsc, Jan Jansen, and TURNIPS!

But, yes, I have noticed a distinct lack of banter in GBEE.
