Got the game, it boots into the download client but then i hit play nothing happens. Reinstalled it just to make sure. It does hang in ram when i check my task manager. I haven't been able to even play one second since getting my product.

I had huge hopes for overhaul games and their passion for recreating infinity games(I love them) but this kind of sloppy work is inexcusable. I feel ripped off....

Having the same problem. I can run the game directly from the executable rather than through the launcher whilst running it in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3, but even then it only runs about 1 in 3 attempts. The other attempts the program just hangs in RAM and doesn't load. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit.

@Nathan, do you know what is causing this and/or can you help?

I too have the same issue.

I bought a game THAT WILL NOT RUN!!

What's funny is I can run the original game without any issues on my Win7 64 bit machine.

If you payed through PayPal you can dispute the purchase and they will investigate the company and very possibly give you your money back.

I'll monitor the forums for another day and then I'll talk to PayPal, I recommend others to do the same.

Nothing speaks louder than a mass refusal of funds.

Well, in a similar situation, i would check my login name/password in the browser and make sure i use the same in the client. If it works in the browser, it should work in the client as well.

i dont think that is the right way. Sure they make things which are unexecusable and the Game comes much to early (hope they dont do the same mistake with BG2). But throught this, the get a great bug support and i belive in 2-3weaks BG:EE would be a really great game.

but you are right it is realy poor that they give us a game which cant be played by many peoples, but be a öittle bit patient and give them a chance

The thing is that Overhaul really screwed the pooch. I've played alphas of games that actually run, indie games made by a team of one person and surprisingly this company cannot even make a build that works at launch. A game that dosent work has NEVER happened to me in my life

How can you have a successful company that sells shoddy goods in today's world where there are hundred of developers making great games?

Everyone knows that your reputation in the industry is what keeps you afloat. I mean its their first product, a game thats been out forever and ran as smooth as silk and they institute minor changes and make a product that is too buggy to run on some machines. Its clear this game is months away from polished and stable.

Personally im done with this company, they lost my trust. Im off to play Persona 4 and GoG Baldur's gate:P

Is that the kind of reputation they want out of the gate?

The reason I have very little, if no, patience for this version coming out so poorly from the start is that I have been involved with the modding of the Infinity Engine for years and as stated earlier, the old engine runs very nicely on new machines.

GoG has shown us how simple it was for them to take older games and modernize them for newer operating systems. I fail to see where my patience is required.

It's rather simple, I paid for something and I would like to receive what I was promised.

While reading this forum looking for a solution I realized that there are many people just as frustrated as myself.

The solution offered is to run the game in XPsp3 compatibility mode, (which unfortunately does not work for me) and this was offered by another player and not the developer.

Is there a post where the developer addresses the issues people are having?

I feel that I must come back and make it perfectly clear that this game does run smoothly, IF YOU DOWNLOAD AND USE THE BEAMDOG CLIENT.

Any attempt to run it without the client will result in frustration.

I have now been playing this mod with the client and am actually rather pleased with this rendition of the game and the few minor additions made to it.
