NO SOUND

I have no sound in the game - anyone with similar issues?

Running SB X-fi surround 5.1 pro

Have Sound when I press play in the initial launcher - but once the game starts nothing in movies, menus, or game.

Before starting a new thread (with title in capital letters) you should take a look at the FAQ: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/8405/read-before-posting-master-technical-faq#latest

Under "C. Sound" you may find a solution for your problem. How do I know? I got the same problem as you and with the help of this community we figured out several solutions to this kind of problem: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/7463/no-sound-update-how-to-fix-it/p1

    Good luck!

Having read the threads above I can now detail my solution although I'm not totally happy with it. From reading the threads there are (from what I have found) three potential solutions. [My laptop- 8GbRAM, i7-2GHz, GTX-560M]:
1: Re-installing using Beamdog client (This didn't work for me)
2: Installing the Creative OpenAL drivers (This didn't work for me)
3: Going into device manager. Selecting update driver. Then choosing "Manually choose a driver" and also select "Let me choose". After this Windows found two drivers on my machine "Realtek High Definition Audio" OR Windows "High Definition Audio Device". I had to re-install the WIndows driver which solved my problem but given that my sound chip is a Realtek chip I would have assumed that I shoud be using the Realtek latest driver not a windows proprietry driver. However this solution worked for me. I don't know what side effects may occur by using the incorrect driver.
