Items from BG1 into BG2

So I never finished Baldurs gate 1, but if I ever should, would I find my equipment inside Irenicus Dungeon or only certain items ? Could I take tombs (Those books which increase stats) with me to give them people in BG2 ?
What about the weapons from drizzt ? Would this
Elminster comes and takes them away how he does if you slay drizzt in BG2?
happen ?

In the original BG2, only certain weapons and items would xfer over. One armor item and one miscellaneous item, as well as the Golden Pantaloons. There are some default items if you didn't have anything from either category in your inventory when finishing.

It's possible that BG2:EE will allow more items to carry over.

I know you could bug your items in before the cutscene through using pause. I also heard that Drizzt's items were excluded from this bug.

At some point in BG2's history they patched out the variable items, now you always get the same stuff, no matter what items you had on import.

It's not a huge deal to be honest, the vast majority of items are horribly outdated anyway shortly after leaving the prelude...heck +2 weapons practically fall from the sky on rainy days. And others were removed for balance reasons.

Only few minor items are imported to BG2, and they aren't good enough in the sequel.

The decisions you made aren't carried over. This means that you might kill some NPCs and they will reappear in BG2, but at least you can ask them how they survived.

The only benefits of importing a BG1 save into BG2 is to have a more powerful main character (specially if you used the books to increase his stats) and to continue the Golden Pantaloons quest (in case you carried them), which is just an easter egg.

Your character will also be at a significantly higher level. A new guy made in BG2 has 89k xp rather than 161k as you can achieve by the end of BG1.

Specially a divine caster benefits the most of the import, as you can get 21 Wisdom in BG1, which is huge. Else the books can only be carried over by abusing the pause-bug (or are they replaced by generic books? never tried this..)
Though I might try this, cause several books are worthless to be spent on the main character, like dexterity on the main(human), which happen to be melee and already has 18. Having a score of 19 gives you the same AC..but giving that book to some ranged or thief in BG2 would make a difference.

I ignore the fact, that it's like giving you the books by console :P I just 'use' the game mechanics....*whistle*
And with all those BG2 mods, having up to +8 stat points for your party doesn't make any difference anyway, ie Weimars ItemUpgrade....

Some of them work fine, some of them can't be used all even with the potion exploit, and some just disappear on import cause they were left out of the files.

Actually, if you play good, there's a point where you permanently lose 2 dex (or turn permanently evil), so you need the manual and Lum to avoid losing your base dex.

Is it really 2 Dex? I can't remember..but you'll for certain lose 1 point in Hell if good....and according some google-crawling the other reduction is (or can be?) choosen from either Dex/Con/Wis/Int in the 4th dream sequence.
And 1 dex can be negated, taken Watchers Keep' machine in account, where you get a perm +1 to all your stats.

Or is it 2 points in Hell - have only found that it's supposed to be 1?

[edit: it's 'minor' important for me ^^ as I plan to do a full run through every BG game and the overhaul of BG:EE just gaves me the kick]
