[Request] Learned spell info in shops

LuneverLunever Member Posts: 307
Current behaviour:
If you want to check, whether a spell on a scroll in a shop is already in your mage's spell book, you habe to leave the shop screen dialogue.

Desired behaviour:
Having some immediate information mini-icon or colour in a shop indicating whether the selected buying spellcaster already knows the spells offered there or not would be nice.

I think this is a little unnecessary, and stands a good chance of cluttering the UI, knowing what spells your mages know is not too hard a task, and why are you buying it if you have no idea whether they need it or not?

If you have 3 higher level mages who already learned a lot of spell scrolls they found ingame and then visit a shop that offers many scrolls (like High Hedge or the spell merchant on Waukeen's Promenade) it is messy. I ended up using a lot of time to write down the spells of each mage (if you have some 20 spells on each level, (which can happen quickly) and have just 3rd level spells you already have to somehow know or note 3x3x20=180 spell slots. And later in the game, with even more spell levels ... so no, it's not unnecessary.

Yea it kind of is. Plus, I'm not really big on making the game more of a hold your hand type experience. In fact I'm actually hoping that they do not implement map markers for BG1 maps because of that very reason. Yes, you do have to be aware of what spells your different mages know, but since gold is fairly abundant in BG2 I don't see the prospect of you accidentally buying the wrong scroll to be that serious.
