Question concerning the new areas

Hey there,

I wonder if these areas are accessible without their respective plot characters, or if you have to get through all the new NPC story to gain access to it.

    As far as I know, the only way to get into the new areas is to have the NPCs in your party long enough for them to mark it on your map. At least I haven't found out any other way.

    However I'm not sure if you need to have them in your party once you have unlocked the area on your map... they seem to be pretty crucial in many of the conversations/events that take place though. I kept them in for the whole duration just in case.
