Fighter Multi classes incorrectly use CON bonuses

I don't know if this has been reported, but I've noticed that with my 18 CON Fighter/Mage that when I level up as a Mage I get 4 hit points per level. As far as I know, multi mages should get a max of 3 hps per level (Mage HD 4/2 + CON bonus 2/1=3. Further, when I used the CON tome to increase my constitution to 19 my hit point gain per level for my mage class changed to 5 HPs. It would appear to me that fighter multi classes are using the fighter CON table for both of their classes, which they should not be.

Current Behavior: Fighter multi-class characters use fighter type CON bonuses for both of their classes.

Expected Behavior: Fighter multi-class characters should not use the fighter CON table when calculating HP gain for their second class.

I'm pretty sure that a [warrior class]/[other class] multiclass character is supposed to gain the full CON bonus to HP. So for every 2 level ups (one in each class) you're supposed to get a total of +4 HP for 18 CON, +5 for 19. I believe the game calculates it as: whichever class you level up in first gets your CON bonus divided by 2, rounded down. When you level up in the next class you get whatever bonus HPs are left over (so for 19 CON you get +2 with the first class to level up, +3 with the second).

Really? That explains that. I always thought that the second class (i.e. Mage) only got 1/2 of the mage-type CON bonuses. Sometimes I hate AD&D. (Joking!)

Yeah I know right, so many of the rules just seem completely illogical and arbitrary, but I suppose they work. I think it would work the way had thought if both of the classes were non-warrior, eg a mage/thief.

@TJ_Hooker has it pretty much right.

So if you have +3 con bonus, you cannot divide that 2 ways, you will still get the remaining HP when the second class levels.

I do think the game may be bugged though. I created a level 1 Fighter/Mage with a +3 CON bonus, for 10 HP total at level 1.

I gave him 4000 XP to gain to level 2 Fighter, and the game said I gained +7 HP. I then leveled him to 5000 XP to gain the mage to level 2 and it said I gained +6 HP. My total HP was at 20. If you were writing down what the game said, it said I gained +13 hp between the two classes that round of level up.

You receive 1/2 of the CON bonus for each class.

So when the fighter levels, you gain 1/2 1d10 + 1/2 con bonus. Then when your mage levels yous gain 1/2 1d4 + 1/2 con bonus.

Well it's a little different if you have an uneven number of bonus HP/level.

I believe uneven hp rounds down. If you roll a 9, you gain 4 HP.

But the level up description window is definitely bugged in regards to HP calculation.
