Is it just my imagination, or are the Party AI Scripts being weird?

It's gotten so bad that I pretty much turn them off most of the time.
Imoen is set to Thief - Ranged, but is constantly trying to hide in shadows, and every time it ticks it breaks her pathing if she's moving somewhere.
My main character is a human fighter, using Fighter - Defensive, sometimes he ALSO tries to hide in shadows. I don't know wth is with that. This also breaks pathing.
I default to appropriate defensive scripts for most characters so no one runs off on their own chasing something, but they keep moving strangely and crowding into each other, regardless of what I manually direct them to do. The cleric (I'm using Viconia) very rarely casts heals when someone is damaged below 50% like the script is supposed to.
All in all the pathing and hide in shadows thing is the most obnoxious. I expect them to only affect combat behavior, and only then to close/keep distance as appropriate with enemies. I'm not sure what it's doing right now.

Select the characters at their portraits or by "drawing a square" around them. It is fixing this problem for some players, it is a good workaround until a patch fixes it.
