Baldur.exe doesn't show in Volume Mixer

On Win7 64b, when I run the game, the exe file for the game doesn't show in the Volume Mixer, so I can't set the game's volume individually.
This is a bug, as the same thing works for my friend on his PC running Windows 8.

Rather - no, VERY - irritating, as I often play online with chat, and it then becomes a pain to set the levels between the game and the chat session.

    I'm on Windows 7 64 bit and I see it in mine. I actually mute the game quite often when I alt tab out.

    Today it still didn't work on mine. And it no longer worked on my friend's win8.
    Seriously buggy

    Hrm. Do you have the latest audio drivers for your computer, @Hexonxonx ? If you can tell me what sound card/chip you have, I might be able to point you to them and we can see if that resolves the problem?

    Just a random thought, try deleting your baldur.ini and relaunching the game.

    Also, from the launcher, use the option to scan and verify all of your game files.

    They released a patch today that may of changed something with the audio mixer. I now have 2 Baldur's Gate icons in my sound mixer. One works and one does not.

    That's what I expecty to see, but I don't, even with the update. And my friend too has the same problem. It's not a sound card issue, since we're on different cards (SB FXi vs integrated);
    It's not a driver issue, as we're on different drivers, and OS';
    It's not an "ini file" issue, as an ini file can't influence the behavior of an exe-file.

    This is totaly an example of an exe that doesn't behave properly, I'm guessing private API's instead of official API's. But that's impossible for me to know, and only the developpers can fix this.
