What is this, and how do I get rid of it?

Hello, new member here! I have been playing BG1 since it came out, got the EE when it did, and switched computers last November. I just recently realised that I hadn't played the game in ages, so I downloaded it. When I started a new game, the boxes in the blue circle, just above the dialogue box showed up. I've not seen those before, and really would prefer them to not clutter my screen, but cannot find a way to get rid of them without using H to make all of the side bars and such vanish. Is this a new "updated" feature? Also, how do I get rid of these?

    Does anyone actually use that ?

    It's poorly displayed imo.

    I think it's taking up a lot of space in addition to being misplaced.

    See those empty spots on the left and on the right of the dialogue and action box ? I'd have preferred to see those filled instead of adding another layer above.

    It's all the more annoying since I tend to widen the chat box and don't like to zoom out too much.

    I toggle it off and on quite often. For wilderness encounters quite handy.

    Aha! That red button is the only one I did not hit. Thank you! Sadly my monitor won't go for a high enough resolution that it makes it anything other than obnoxious.
