Backstab rules?

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
Can you use any weapon for backstabs? Like 2H swords if you play a dual/multi class character or later on with use any item?

    It needs to be a thief only weapon for the damage multiplier, although the +4 to hit while hidden still applies to any weapon.

    If you install Item Revisions, there's a component that lets you backstab with any weapon, though certain weapons deal less damage on backstage. Light crossbows have great potential as ranger backstab weapons.
