Durlag's Tower Gong not clickable

So I'm most of the way through BG:EE (Windows 7) and doing Durlag's Tower before I start on Chapter 6. All I need to do is ring the gong and I can progress to the next part of the puzzle.

Except when I mouse over the gong, there's no icon that says it's interactable, and clicking on it anyway does nothing!


My game is fairly heavily modded but I can't think of anything I installed that should affect this.

    Is there like a console command or something I can use to force my way past this bug?

    @mishi Is it doing that even after you reassembled the gong mallet at the forge?

    yepyep

    I didn't fix it but I used EEKeeper to set the global variable FEAR to 2 and that let me skip that step.
